Sindy is a British fashion doll introduced in 1963 by Pedigree Dolls & Toys Ltd. Designed as a wholesome teenage character, Sindy was marketed as “the girl next door,” with a focus on contemporary fashion, careers, and social life. Early dolls were manufactured in the United Kingdom and marked “Made in England.”
During the 1970s–1990s, production and distribution shifted through different corporate owners, including Louis Marx and Company and later Hasbro, reflecting changes in design, branding, and international reach.
From 1963 to 2023, Sindy appeared in numerous face variations, body molds, and themed lines, ranging from everyday fashion releases to wedding, career, and deluxe gift sets. Limited editions and anniversary dolls were also produced for collectors, alongside reproduction versions inspired by 1960s designs. Over six decades, Sindy has remained one of Britain’s most recognizable fashion dolls and a significant figure in European doll collecting.
